So here is my post that finally prompted me to start this page. I was so disappointed and let down after going there that I started this post a year ago but never finished it. Well a year later, here it is.
Please keep in mind, this review is a year old. Having gone through the recent Yelp reviews, most still complain about terrible service, pre-packaged over priced dishes. Open Table reviews give the place an abundance of 5 stars, making me question, who is really behind those??? Oh well.
Also keep in mind this review was right before the place was shut down for making people really sick…..
Having just come home from traveling the French Riviera and Southern France we were more than excited than to try a new place as we longed for the region we loved and were missing already.
Fig & Olive, City Center DC was the biggest food let down we have ever had dining out in Washington, DC.
If you want Mediterranean/French Riviera inspired food we can provide you with a long list of new and established places where your taste buds will delight and you will not feel like you are seated in an uninspiring banquet hall with staff running around with there hair on fire not accomplishing anything but bringing the wrong dishes to tables.
I had their “signature dish”, Grilled Branzino glazed with fig balsamic vinegar, served with figs and snow peas finished with sweet Picholine Olive Oil. Disgusting does not begin and I love Branzino and do try to order it every chance I get. It was fishy, over cooked, like it sat under a heat lamp for an hour. The figs were too chewy, the snow peas added an odd flavor – overall a hot mess. I had one small piece and made my husband try it. We couldn’t finish it.
